MEGABAND mica insulated band heaters are efficient and economical solutions to the heating requirements of many applications. Although their maximum sheath temperature is limited to 900°F, with different electrical termination styles, clamping mechanisms, and ability to accommodate holes and cutouts, MEGABANDs are successfully used in many applications, but are mostly sought for in the plastics industry.
MEGAPLATE mica insulated strip heaters are economical heat sources, suitable for providing heat to flat surfaces. The sheath temperature limitation is 900°F. These heaters can be made to include pressure plates that improve uniformity and heat transfer. MEGADRUM and FLEXIDRUM heaters are used to pre-heat liquids in drums or pails to make them less viscous and more flowable. They are suitable heat sources when heat is required to handle liquids during pouring, dipping, coating or mixing operations.MEGADRUM and FLEXIDRUM heaters are made to brace a drum externally and they are easily installed and removed when needed.
MEGAFLEX ceramic heaters are medium-to-high temperature heaters that have 1200°F as a maximum working temperature. These durable heaters have built-in ceramic fiber jackets that make them energy efficient. MEGAFLEX heaters are available with different terminal styles, are fully flexible, and can accommodate holes and cut-outs.

MEGAWAT high-density cartridges are round tubular heaters with electrical terminations on one side. These dependable heaters are made to withstand tough industrial usage. With a tolerance of +/- 0.002” on their outside diameter to secure a tight fit inside receptacle holes, and rock hard compaction of MgO insulation through swaging, these heater can attain 1500°F sheath temperature. HIGHWAT coil and cable heaters are reliable, high performance small diameter heaters used whenever a large amount of heat is required in a confined space. These heaters are fully annealed and can be formed into various shapes and forms. Coil and cable heaters can accommodate thermocouple sensors, and their cross-section could be made square or rectangular to improve heat transfer. HIGHWAT coil heaters are successfully used as powerful heating cells in plastic injection molding hot runner nozzles.
SILFLEX fibreglass reinforced silicone rubber heaters are moisture and chemical resistant. Although thin and flexible, they have a rugged construction and can be made to adhere to practically any surface. These heaters can accommodate holes and cut-outs, and can come with a PSA back or a thermostat. SILFLEX heaters are suitable for temperatures below 500°F.
Finned air-cooled cast-in designs provide effective heating and cooling for plastics extrusion barrels. The fin pattern can be supplied as a standard height of 1” or manufactured to a low profile thickness for small extruders or applications requiring rapid cooling.
Liquid cooled cast-in barrel heaters are the most common cast- in heater design used on plastics extrusion barrels. The liquid cooling tubes run symmetrical to the heater element, which provides a uniform cooling pattern across the body of the casting.
Individual shroud and blower systems can be used with finned barrel heaters as self contained systems on extruder barrels.
Special sections of the cast-in extruder barrel such as a vent or feed throat require custom modifications to fit properly.
Although not a common design, heat only cast-in barrel heaters are available primarily with the stainless steel mounting strap option. This design is standardly 1” thick and can be used with all standard electrical terminations that Durex offers.
The “L” shape cast-in heater design is typically used on square and rectangular extruder barrels, which utilize a twin, screw design.
Cast-in cooling jackets are manufactured for specific applications that do not require heat, but require a uniform cooling source, which can be controlled.
